Background and Experience:

Almost three decades of involvement with the horse industry including:

Principal – Sterling Equine Appraisals     (2000 – present)

Owner of Imagination Farm                  (1997 – present)

Co-owner of J.L. Performance Horses   (1984 – 1997)

During the past 30 years, I have owned, bred and shown horses to a variety of achievements. Horses I have owned, bred and shown have earned multiple Championships, Superior Event awards, and High-Point Honor Roll status in halter and many western performance events. I have personally shown in local, national breed and AHSA rated shows in Western Performance classes, Western Riding, Reining, Trail, Horsemanship, Pleasure, Speed events and Team Penning as well as Hunters, Equitation and other English classes. Additionally, I participated in Inter-Collegiate Competition in the Hunter Seat discipline. I currently show Quarter Horses (AQHA) and Paint Horses (APHA) on the National level in both English and Western events.

As President of Sterling Equine Appraisals, a privately held equine appraisal firm, I am known within the industry for my fair and impartial evaluations of each case, individually. I have given depositions, provided expert testimony and acted as a consultant for many unique and interesting cases, each requiring a great deal of care, tact and accuracy.

In performing appraisal reports, I draw on my formal education, my equestrian background, my knowledge of and own experiences with various breeds and disciplines, as well as my understanding of the principles of financial analysis and the economy. I also consult with other appraisers and representatives from the American Society of Equine Appraisers whose backgrounds and skills supplement my own.

Outside of my horse industry experience, I have a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at California State University, Fresno, for graduation in late 2007. Professionally, I have extensive Accounting and Auditing experiences in government, real estate, construction and telecommunications, making me especially qualified to understand the financial implications of appraisal reports.
